Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin,
Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain: these influential musicians have acquired a shared cult-status, partly because of
their untimely passing at the age of 27.
As a tribute to this mystical 27 Club, the installation commemorates their iconic songs. The image’s silence is breached by playing the five vinyl LP records. When put on the record player, each song slowly perishes due to the engraved memorial wreath, transforming the music into a self destructive but never ending noise. Sampling one line of each of the five lyrics, the record sleeves together form a new poem as a permanent memory of the cult figures’ inspiring work.
